BEFORE THE RACE
“Athens Marathon. The Authentic” is an annual event that takes place every second weekend of November.
The 41st edition of “Athens Marathon. The Authentic” event will be held on 9 & 10 November 2024.
The 5km Road Race and the 5km Universities Night Run will be held on Saturday 9th November 2024 and the Marathon Race, the 10km Road Race, as well as the 1,2km Kids Race will be held on Sunday 10th November 2024.
Our program includes 5 Races, for which you can register (as long as you meet the Terms & Conditions of Participation):

- 10km Road Race OPAP
- 5km Road Race STOIXIMAN
- 1.2km Kids Race
- 5km Universities Night Run

- The Marathon Race is available for people over 18 years old, i.e. runners born at least in 2006 and older.
- The 5km & 10km and 5km Universities Night Run are available for people over 12 years old, i.e. runners born at least in 2012 and older.
- The 1.2km Kids Race is available for students of the 4th, 5th and 6th grades of the Elementary School, i.e. children born in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
*It is noted that for the above age limits, as well as for the individual age categories of the race, the year of birth is taken into account and not the full date of birth.

The Official Registration Period for “Athens Marathon. The Authentic” event opens approximately 6 months before the race date. Registrations will automatically close once the participation limit per race is met or on 1st October at the latest. All registrations are submitted online.
You can choose your preferred race for online registration here.
Right after you submit your registration form you can settle your registration fee ONLY by debit/credit card.
In order for your registration to be considered valid, your registration fee must be paid immediately after submitting your entry form. If the registration fee has not been settled, your registration will be canceled without prior notice.
After you have settled your registration fee as above, a registration confirmation email will be sent to you within seven (7) business days.
A Group Registration refers to the registration of at least 20 people, regardless of the race in which each team member chooses to participate (Marathon Road /10km Road Race /5km Road Race) and registration level.
The interested group should send a request of interest to groups@athensauthenticmarathon.gr with the places they wish to reserve per road race. If there is availability, the placed are reserved and detailed information and a form to fill in the details of each group member are sent. The participation fee for Group Registrations has a discount of €5.00 from the prices of individual registrations.

Cancellations are possible strictly up until 25 September 2024. Any kind of cancellation request should only be sent to the following email: cancellations@athensauthenticmarathon.gr .
In all cases of entry or transaction cancellation until the above date, the registration fee is refunded to the applicant, with a deduction* as handling fees, regardless the race, level of registration and/or reason cancellation. It is noted that any NGO donations are non-refundable.
*In case of entry cancellation in the 5km, 10km Road Races and 5km Universities Night Run the registration fee is refunded to the applicant with a deduction of 10,00€, while in case of entry cancellation in the Marathon Race the registration fee is refunded to the applicant with a deduction of 20,00€.
Cancellation requests sent after 25 September are not accepted and there is no possibility for refunds.
Deferral of one’s entry to the 2024 edition of “Athens Marathon. The Authentic” is NOT possible.

The registration confirmation email is sent within seven (7) business days after you have succesfully submitted your entry and settled your registration fee as per instructions (read above in “How can I settle my registration fee?”)
After the seven (7) days have passed and you still have not received it:
- Check your Spam folder in case the e-mail bounced there
- Check if your payment was successful. If it was successful and still have not received the email, contact us at registrations@athensauthenticmarathon.gr
About ten (10) days before the race, all runners who have successfully registered for any of the event’s races will receive an email, informing them about their exact bib number and starting block.
All runners are asked to collect their bib number and race kit from the Runners’ Center & Marathon EXPO, hosted in the Faliro Indoor Hall & Exhibition Centre of Athens (former Tae Kwon Do Venue), at the Olympic Faliro Coastal Zone.
The Runners’ Center will be open for the public as follows:
Wednesday 6 November 2024: 13.00 – 20.00
Thursday 7 November 2024: 10.00 – 20.00
Friday 8 November 2024: 10.00 – 20.00
Saturday 9 November 2024: 10.00 – 18.00

Runners must hand in their kit bag with their personal clothing to the volunteers at the designated areas at least 30 minutes before the start of the race. After finishing the race, runners, assisted by volunteers, may collect back their kit bag presenting their bib number.
Transportation to the Start Area of the Marathon Race is offered by the Organizing Committee ONLY for registered runners. (no spot reservation is necessary)
Buses by The Athens Marathon Organizing Committee will be departing constantly from six (6) different points within the Athens Center, from 05.30AM up to 06.45AM, for the (direct and without any stop) transportation of all runners participating in the Marathon Race to the Marathon Start area. After 06.45AM, it will be no longer possible for late runners to use our transportation system and they need to take care of their own transportation to the Marathon Start area, by their own means.
The finish line for ALL Races, is in the historic Panathenaic Stadium.
POST RACE
You can find your photos of the race within 48hours after the race, through the webiste of the event’s Official Photo Agency marathonphotos.live. Through the same website you will be able to download your Participation Certificate free of charge after the announcement of the event’s Official Results.
It is noted that only runners who are included in the Official Results of the race have the possibility to download their Participation Certificate.
Note that right after the completion of each race you can view the Unofficial Results on our website. The Official Results of each race are announced after any appeals/objections are resolved.
Runners have the oportunity to appeal/object for their race results within five (5) business days. After any appeals/ objections are recorded,investigated and resolved the Official Results of each race are announced on our website and runners that is included in them can download their Participation Cartificate free of charge through the website of marathonphotos.live.
