SEGAS Official Social Responsibility Program continues its successful course with a wider purpose to “embrace” society and act as a strong vehicle of solidarity!
In recent years, SEGAS, using the dynamics of the two largest running events in the country (Athens Marathon & Half Marathon) has collaborated with approximately 35 different Non-Governmental Organizations that cover a wide range of social and other actions in Greece and abroad, and has collected hundreds of thousands of euros just for them exclusively through the fundraising of participation entries. If we take into account the parallel actions of our sponsors, with the resounding example of the “OPAP Contribution Squad”, then the total impact is close to €10,000,000!
This program is addressed to Non-Governmental Organizations that wish to actively participate in the events and activities of the Athens Marathon, giving them the opportunity to use the race itself both as a means of raising awareness among the general public regarding their goals and work, as well as a platform for gathering money and resources to realize their goals. By participating in the Official Social Program of SEGAS, the Collaborating Non-Governmental Organizations and Institutions have the opportunity to “hear” and reach an audience particularly aware of issues of social solidarity and partnership, and at the same time to be at the center of wider interest as throughout the preparation and running of the match.
The purpose of the organizers is always to further strengthen the social character of the event and to make it a vehicle for the development of actions and initiatives of public benefit Non-Profit entities and organizations.
The Social Responsibility Program for NGOs 2024
Our Social Program offers an opportunity to NGOs to showcase their initiatives and actions and use the events’ huge platforms for fundraising opportunities!
You have the opportunity to partner with us in two different levels, with offering certain dedicated benefits:
Selection Criteria will be:
- Size of your Organization’s & years of operation
- Social Footprint of your organization
- Scope and targeted audience
- Any previous involvement either in our Charity Program and/or as a running team will be valued
For the selection of each organization SEGAS aims to cover a wide range of different societal issues, giving the opportunity to our runners to be able to run for a purpose they want to support. From organizations with resources and opportunities that have access to a large audience, to new organizations that are now starting their activities. Our goal is to include a diverse group of NGOs and to be fully representative of the needs of society.

The Official Charity Partners actively participate in the entire Athens Marathon event, sensitizing the Greek and international community on their objectives and goals, using it as an awareness tool and a donations platform.
